Based in Linlithgow, the birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots, Mary’s Meanders is a specialist independent tour company focussing on historic, filming and ancestry tours.

Over the past four years, we have welcomed many visitors drawn to Scotland through filming locations, especially those featured in Outlander, and film tourism is a major and growing part of our business.

Instead of merely driving guests from one location to another, our guides will join you into the locations and share a wealth of knowledge about the sites and the TV series. We work closely with all visited sites to ensure the entire tour is an experience you will never forget.

Linlithgow is perfectly situated within easy reach of Edinburgh and Glasgow and is less than an hour from many historic sites and filming locations.

Mary’s Meanders are “Visit Scotland Thistle Awards Regional Ambassador for The Lothians and Borders 2018/19”.

We have had the great honor to take Diana Gabaldon – the famous author of The Outlander saga – together with a few lucky fans on a special tour to selected Outlander locations. The event was organized by VisitScotland in recognition of Diana’s contribution to Scottish tourism with her books and subsequent TV series.

Starting out in Edinburgh, we explored the filming sites at Bakehouse Close and Tweedale Court before heading off to Culruss (Cranesmuir) and Falkland (Inverness). There word got out that Diana was in town and a small gathering soon formed nearby. Considering it had been a long day, Diana was extremely warm and friendly to everyone and made time to chat and take photos with her fans.
