Minceta Tower is one of the many memorable filming locations throughout the city. The highest point in Dubrovnik, and boasting spectacular views all around, it features as the House of the Undying in Qarth. Here we see Daenerys Targaryen scramble to find an entrance in search of her dragons.

Staying with Daenerys’ adventures, another important location in her journey is the Rector’s Palace. Originally built in the 15th Century, its facade was used for the Spice King’s mansion.

The 16th-century Ethnographic Museum is a wholesome attraction, featuring agriculture exhibits and folk costumes. However, it had a more seedy purpose in Game of Thrones, where it appeared as Littlefinger’s brothel in King’s Landing.

Of course, one of the most famous scenes filmed in Dubrovnik is Cersei’s humiliating Walk of Penance through King’s Landing. You’ll have the chance to follow in her literal footsteps, tracking her from the Jesuit Staircase, and along the Stradun and St Dominic Street. Thankfully, you’ll have the choice of doing this walk fully-clothed!

But there’s more to Dubrovnik than just Game of Thrones.

On the Game of Thrones and Dubrovnik Old Town Combo tour, you’ll be sure to see many of the other historic landmarks. These will include Onofrio’s Fountain, built in 1438, the Franciscan Monastery and much more!

The combination of real-world history and fantasy filming locations make this a unique, once in a lifetime experience. It truly can’t be missed!

Locations (6)

2. Pile Gate / King’s Landing Entrance

Pile Gate is used as the main entry point to the old town of Dubrovnik, the complex has several doors, and Fort Bokar provided defences centuries ago. In the present day, the gates remain open to the general public. For Game of Thrones followers, Pile Gate is more recognisable as the spot which represented the entrance to King’s Landing.

Viewers will recall seeing Pile Gate as the King’s Landing Entrance during Season 3 Episode 10, which was when Jamie Lannister arrives at King’s Landing to visit his sister Cersei Lannister. Upon entering Pile Gate, the area opens up to reveal the place where the King’s landing riot was filmed, when King Joffrey gets fruit thrown at him by one of the angry crowd members during Season 2 Episode 6.

Following the path behind Pile Gate will lead entrants into Dubrovnik’s old town.

5. Jesuit Staircase / Walk of Shame Stairs

The iconic Jesuit Staircase descends from Gundulić Square, and at the top of the steps is where Dubrovnik’s picturesque Jesuit church of St. Ignatius is located. Game of Thrones enthusiasts will recognise the Jesuit staircase as the place where the memorable Walk of Shame scene begins.

Fans will recall the Walk of Shame stairs location when it appeared during GOT season five. This is the scene where the High Sparrow makes his speech before Cersei Lannister is stripped naked and is forced to repent her sins by taking a walk of shame down the staircase. The very first scene which saw Cersei standing at the top of the stairs was caught on camera at the Jesuit Staircase.

There are a variety of coffee bars and restaurants in this area, and the scene required the use of the location for the entire day, making this one of the most expensive scenes for HBO.
