What is the business model of Silverscreen Tours?

Silverscreen Tours is an online travel agency (OTA). We operate a free online marketplace where tour operators can promote and sell their filming locations tours.

Customers book and pay through Silverscreen Tours on behalf of the tour operator. Booking information and payments are immediately forwarded to the tour operator, less our agreed upon commission. Silverscreen Tours keep 20% commission on the total amount (+tax if applicable) booked by the customer, unless agreed in writing elsewhere.

Using our service does not, in any way, make us a contractual partner in the contracts between tour operators and customers.

What kind of tours are listed on your marketplace?

We are generally happy to include tours that focus on filming locations (e.g. the Dark Hedges) and/or filming attractions (e.g. Warner Bros. Studios London). A few additional non-filming locations (e.g. a stop at Giant’s Causeway during a Game of Thrones tour) are acceptable, as long as the main focus of the tour is the films and TV series. If we feel that a filming location tour doesn’t fit our brand, we are at full liberty not to list it.

What are your guidelines for accepting a filming location tour?

  • Tours must be themed around a movie or TV series well known to a global audience.
  • At least 2/3 of the visited locations must be filming locations of a movie or tv series.
  • A detailed tour description and itinerary pointing out the scenes filmed on location.
  • 5 – 15 high resolution (min 1280 x 720 px) images of each tour for promotion.
  • All guides must have profound knowledge of the movie/tv series and give customers detailed information about the scenes shot on location.

How do Silverscreen Tours use our content?

We honour your copyright on all contents that you provide or we extract from your website – text, images, videos, etc. Your content will only be used to promote and distribute your tours and locations. At the same time, you are responsible for any third party copyright claims regarding your content.

Do Silverscreen Tours provide stock content?

Silverscreen Tours is constantly producing high-quality copy and collecting royalty-free assets to promote individual filming locations. You are welcome to include this ready-made content in the itinerary section of your Silverscreen tour pages, but not to use it outside of our website.

In which languages are Silverscreen Tours available?

Silverscreen Tours is currently available in English and German.

In what formats shall we deliver images?

In order to achieve the best results, we ask that you simply provide the original high-resolution images and let us do the image editing: cropping, scaling and compression. The images should have the following minimum resolution:

  • Top banner / slider: min. 1280 x 720 pixels

For file transfer, we recommend the easy and free tool https://wetransfer.com/.

What are my obligations as a tour operator?

First of all, make sure your guests have a wonderful time! Then, let us build a partnership based on mutual support and trust.

Silverscreen Tours will forward all bookings, booking requests, enquiries, complaints and chargeback claims without delay and within 24 hours. To maintain a strong level of communication with the customer, we ask that you react to these events in a timely and professional manner, no later than 24 hours. Let’s work together on this!

What insurances do we need?

All tour operators need to provide insurance coverage to customers. You are required to provide a Public Liability Certificate of Insurance (COI) on registration.

What is the cancellation policy?

The customer can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours after the booking is made. After that time, you can choose between four cancellation policies:

a) Very Short (recommended for single-day tours)

The customer can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the tour starts.
After that time, no cancellations, changes or refunds will be made.

b) Short (recommended for single-day tours)

The customer can cancel free of charge up to 48 hours before the tour starts.
After that time, no cancellations, changes or refunds will be made.

c) Medium (recommended for multi-day tours)

The customer can cancel free of charge up to 14 days before the tour starts.
From 14 days until 48 hours before the tour starts, a 50% refund is made.
After that time, no cancellations, changes or refunds will be made.

d) Long (recommended for multi-week tours)

The customer can cancel free of charge up to 30 days before the tour starts.
From 30 days until 7 days before the tour starts, a 50% refund is made.
After that time, no cancellations, changes or refunds will be made.

How do you handle chargebacks?

A credit card transaction is not a guaranteed transaction, so the cardholder can carry out a so-called chargeback via their bank.

If your costumer’s bank accepts the chargeback, the money will be reclaimed, and Silverscreen Tours will reclaim the corresponding amount (without the commission) from you. As soon as we receive notification of a chargeback, we will notify you.

You are responsible for possible chargebacks. It is possible for Silverscreen Tours to lodge an objection to the chargeback on your behalf, but only on receipt of all relevant documentation, correspondence or any other necessary information, within 24 hours.

What booking system do you support?

Silverscreen Tours use the Bokun (https://bokun.io) online booking system. If you also use Bokun, integration is simple with the Bokun Marketplace.

Currently, we also support automated availability checks and bookings for partners on Checkfront (https://www.checkfront.com), FareHarbor (https://fareharbor.com), Rezgo (https://www.rezgo.com), TourCMS (https://www.tourcms.com), TrekkSoft (https://www.trekksoft.com) and Experience Bank (https://experiencebank.travel). Support for more booking systems is coming soon. We also add support for other booking systems on request.

Do you link back to our website?

Yes, all registered tour operators get their own partner page with a logo, a short description, an overview of their tours and a backlink to their homepage. All tours also link to the corresponding tour operator partner page.

Please support us by also adding a backlink to https://www.silverscreen.tours somewhere on your website. You can also improve the ranking of your Silverscreen tour pages by adding additional backlinks to them.
