Our experienced guides look after you all day from pick-up at your Rotorua city centre accommodation to Auckland. They include a full commentary on the way with insights into the areas you are travelling through and background to the movie set you are visiting.

At Hobbiton, we will take you down to the set itself and have one of the specialist Hobbiton guides take you on a walking tour around the 44 Hobbit holes. You will get the chance to have a photo in the doorway of a Hobbit house, see the Party Tree and stand by the gate to Bilbo’s house Bag End overlooking the whole set to the hills in the distance.

The tour ends with a visit to the Green Dragon Inn where you can enjoy a complimentary ale, cider or ginger beer.

Following the Hobbiton tour, we have a great lunch at the Shire’s rest cafe and from 2022 we will be reintroducing the sumptuous lunchtime feast in the Party Marquee.

After lunch, you will travel on to Auckland, with drop-off at selected inner-city Auckland accommodations included.

Accessibility

The tour at Hobbiton is a walk and is not wheelchair accessible. However, there is a golf cart we can order there (additional costs) based on availability for clients. Clients who are in wheelchairs will need to be able to make their own way onto our vehicles (2 or 3 steps up) and bring a collapsible wheelchair for the boot of the vehicle.
