Thrill-seekers will marvel at the LOTR filming locations in an off-road adventure in a four-wheel drive, travelling from Queenstown to Glenorchy and the home to Lothlorien and Isengard in National Aspiring Park. The tour then returns to Queenstown for an enjoyable lunch in a cafe. From here the path you follow will travel along a historic gold mining road alongside the Arrow River where you can test your skills at gold panning.
The Lord of the Rings Full-Day 4WD Safari from Queenstown begins in the morning where a four-wheel-drive transports you along the shores of the Wakatipu Lake. You will get a variety of opportunities to capture photos as you pass breathtaking scenery before you arrive at your destination in Glenorchy.
Continuing to the Paradise region in New Zealand’s National Aspiring Park presents a wealth of astonishing viewpoints. You have the option of stopping along the way should you wish to. Lothlorien and Isengard are two of the world-famous Lord of the Rings filming locations that you will experience in Aspiring National Park. After exploring the park, we return to Queenstown to enjoy a complimentary lunch in one of the popular Queenstown cafes before the afternoon part of the tour begins.
The afternoon portion of the tour is more rugged than the paths we follow in Aspiring National Park, with a mixture of river crossings and travelling along rough ground. The tour embarks to mark Gibbston and Arrowtown as the next destinations. Once you reach Arrowtown, the journey takes an off-road adventure to witness more familiar scenes from the movies. One of the highlights of Arrowtown is the filming location of where the One Ring dropped among the Gladden fields.
As you depart Arrowtown, your transport will take a route which follows the direction of a gold mining road, and you will continue up the Arrow River. You will reach the next destination of the tour at the Ford of Bruinen after crossing the Arrow River several times along the way.
The Lord of the Rings Full-Day 4WD Safari from Queenstown will draw to a close as you depart the Ford of Bruinen to travel to Skipper’s Canyon. Here you will be able to experience incredible views of the Wakatipu Basin and into the Canyon.
