The force is strong in Tunisia. Standing in the actual Boonta Eve pod-racing arena, you’ll almost hear the crowd roar as Anakin Skywalker’s pod racer speeds over the finishing line! As you take a selfie outside Luke Skywalker’s house on the planet of Tatooine, is that distant sand cloud Luke’s landspeeder or approaching Imperial Stormtroopers?

Day 1: Tunis – Kairouan – Tozeur

The Star Wars Tunisia 6-Days Private Tour begins as soon as you are collected by our Star Wars tour guide and starts with a visit to the 9th century Aghlabid basins in the city of Kairouan. The basins feature a 36-mile long aqueduct to create an open-air reservoir.

The next part of the tour will commence after reaching North Africa’s oldest grand mosque, and while here, your guide will provide some exciting and fun facts surrounding some of the traditions of Tunisian culture. Lunch will be provided in Kairouan Medina before we depart for the next part of our journey. Medina has some fantastic things to see, including fascinating tombs, candy-coloured homes, and maze-like lanes that veer off in several directions.

Following a replenishing lunch, we make our way to our next destination of Tozeur. Upon arrival, we’ll check into a four-star hotel before settling down for dinner.

Day 2: Tozeur – Tamerza – Chebika – Mides – Sidi Bouhlel – Chott el Jerid – Nefta – Ong Jemel

Day two of the tour initiates with a revitalising breakfast at the Tozeur we spent the night at, and we then depart to visit the tranquil Chebika Waterfalls. While here, guests will get to witness the breathtaking views of Tamerza Waterfalls in addition to exploring Mides (Canyons).

Once we finish taking in the fantastic Tunisian scenery guests will experience Sidi Bouhlel Canyon, which is often referred to as Star Wars Canyon. For Star Wars fans this filming location captured several scenes showcased in Star Wars: A New Hope. Star Wars Canyon is renowned for being the home of the desert planet of Tatooine and is recognisable as the place where Obi-Wan rescued Luke Skywalker as well as where R2-D2 is kidnapped. The Tusken Raider scenes and Jawa Rock was also filmed here.

After taking advantage of the fantastic photo opportunities of Sidi Bouhlel Canyon, we move onto the next tour location of the Mos Espa film site which is superbly located amongst the Sahara dunes. It is this area that viewers grew to recognise as the filming location of the pod-racing arena. While here guests can almost hear young Skywalker speeding past the finish line.

The Mos Espa streets, Watto’s shop, market, and Sebulba’s Café are located here. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore should you wish. Looking in an eastern direction of the film set is where guests will witness the Yardangs which became famous for an appearance in Star Wars: Episode I. The Yardangs is where the battle between Darth Maul and Qui-Gonn had viewers gazing at their screens when it aired in 1999. The Queen’s Royal Starship was also caught on camera here. Ong Jemel is very nearby and is the area where Darth Maul issues the Sith Probes after his arrival in Tatooine.

Before we settle into the Tozeur hotel for dinner and a stay overnight you might also like to visit the Dune Sea, the Krayt Dragon Ridge and the location of the igloo of Lars Family Homestead exterior on the Chott El Jerid. Attack of the Clones scenes was captured at this location, in addition to the final Revenge of the Sith shot.

Day 3: Tozeur – Douz – Sahara Desert

The third day of the tour commences with a departure from Tozeur, heading to our next destination of Douz in a private 4×4 vehicle. On our journey to Douz, we pass some outstanding scenery ranging from golden dunes to vibrant green palm trees.

After travelling through an array of golden dunes, we arrive at our destination by dinner time to enjoy food fit for a Jedi. We’ll spend the evening sitting around a crackling campfire before settling into our Douz accommodation (SAHARANSKY Luxury desert Camping).

Day 4: Douz – Matmata

Waking up on day four will begin with a fantastic breakfast before we embark to our next destination of Matamata. Upon arrival, we’ll get to experience an Underground Troglodyte and to replenish our energy we’ll check into a Berber underground house to have a delicious lunch.

Once we’ve had lunch, the group continues to experience a location which captured scenes from Star Wars Episode III: A New Hope at Hotel Sidi Driss. This hotel is where Luke Skywalker’s home filmed at the beginning of A New Hope and also represented the film set for the Lars Moisture Farm.

Dinner e served at the hotel, and we’ll then check into the Hotel Sidi Driss or another three-star hotel to spend the night in Matamata.

Day 5: Matmata – Ksar Hadada – Ksar Oued Soltane – Tataouine

On day five, we begin with a tasty breakfast to start the day before we depart Matamata to our next destination. We’ll travel to Southern Tunisia’s best-preserved Ksar in Ksar Ouled Soltane for the next part of the tour. It was here that fans would recognise scenes captured in the Phantom Menace, precisely the filming location of the Slave Quarters Row.

Once we finish exploring here, we move onto another location where the Phantom Menace Slave Quarters Row filmed in Ksar Hadada. While Anakin works on his podracer Qui-Gon Jin and Shmi are talking about him, and Ksar Hadada represented the balcony they stand on.

We’ll next visit the city of Tataouine. Even though Tatooine was not filmed in this part of Tunisia, the city of Tataouine was the location that gave inspiration for the name chosen for the desert planet seen in the movies.

Once we’ve finished exploring Tataouine, we’ll check in to a four-star hotel for dinner before spending the night in Tataouine.

Day 6: Tataouine – Medenine – Djerba – Tunis

On the final day of the tour, guests will enjoy one last breakfast before departing Tataouine. The final destination is arrival in Medenine, where we find the location of Slave Quarters Row. This is the home of Shmi and Anakin.

We’ll explore the exterior of the Cantina which represented scenes of Mos Eisley, and is where fans will recall seeing the dramatic blast off of the Millenium Falcon nearby Cantina. During Obi Wan’s exile viewers see shot of his home, these shots are captured at a historic mosque just outside of the Ajim town.

The tour draws to a close with transfers to Tunis, and guests will be dropped off a hotel or location of their preference.
